Turbat University Organizes Training Workshop to Enhance Education Standards at Affiliated Colleges

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the University of Turbat (UoT), in collaboration with the Divisional Monitoring Officer (DMO) at Makran, Prof. Barkat Ismail, organized a one-day training workshop on December 20, 2025, at Government Atta Shad Degree College, Turbat. The session was designed for Program Team (PT) members of various BS and Associate Degree (AD) programs offered at UoT-affiliated colleges.

Participants included PT members from Government Atta Shad Degree College and Government Girls Degree College, Turbat. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director, QEC, served as the resource person. The workshop focused on strengthening academic quality and ensuring that BS and AD programs meet institutional standards and market needs.

During the session, Dr. Riaz Ahmed briefed the participants regarding the eight standards of the Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) and the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) template. He emphasized that implementing these standards is vital for improving academic outcomes, ensuring student success, and achieving program objectives.

In his welcome address, Prof. Barkat Ismail thanked the UoT management and the QEC Director for their active support in uplifting the quality of education at affiliated colleges. He also emphasized the need for closer coordination between the university and its affiliated colleges.

UoT Director Public Relations and Spokesperson, Ijaz Ahmed, highlighted that under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, the university is taking concrete steps to build teacher capacity and align college programs with Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines and market demands. He reiterated the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to collaborating with the Government of Balochistan’s Higher Education Department to produce a competent workforce for the province and the country.

The participants demonstrated a keen interest in the training, transforming the session into a dynamic exchange of ideas. Recognizing the value of the workshop, they expressed a strong desire for more frequent capacity-building sessions of this nature. They also highlighted practical challenges they face, offering valuable feedback on how to resolve existing hurdles and streamline efforts to achieve the institutional goals.
